This is a very early piece by renowned Oaxacan potter Dolores Porras, made by Dolores herself and while she was still relatively unknown. The signature on the back differs from her later signatures in that she put her address on there, presumably so people could find her workshop. Later signatures, once she was better known and also after her passing, just had her name. This piece is one of her better known mermaid bowls and is in exceptional condition.
